Cut Line: The Form and Flora Maxi Denim Skirt

FTM 318: Fashion Development Process

The Fashion Development Process course at the Wilson College of Textiles included developing a fashion product for an imaginary company and its specific target sector from concept to design to manufacturing to garment creation using Adobe Illustrator, Gerber Accumark, and CLO3D.

With a generous grant from Cotton Inc., the Spring 2026 FTM 318 class designed a cotton denim-focused collection.

This project was accomplished with my peers: Immanual Jackson (Product Development and Merchandising Manager), Carrie McLawhorn (3D Technical Designer), Hajira Salman (Technical Designer), and Wiri Shwe (Technical Designer).

Sponsored by Cotton Inc.: received a classroom grant for materials to utilize in this project (fabric).

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Gerber AccuMark, CLO3D, Canva

Concept & Moodboard

image.png

Cut Line was inspired by urban motion and off-duty cool. Sculpted low-rise and mid-rise jeans, low-slung denim and slouchy layers, and statement basics meant to anchor a wardrobe. The palette stays grounded in classic indigo, washed black, and stone denim, elevated with subtle distressing, unexpected seam lines, and contrasting color details. Each piece is designed to evolve with the wearer’s style that feels effortless yet intentional.

This project included designing a denim piece of clothing from concept to creation, accounting for design preferences among target sectors, current fashion trends, fit and sizing, manufacturing and technical packaging, cut-and-sew, and marketing. The class was split into groups, with each group acting as a different sector of the brand; this design was created by the Womenwear group, where I served as the Apparel Designer.
