Jeev Designs, "I'm sorry, Sari" Collection

FTM 317: Computer-Aided Design for Apparel

The Computer-Aided Design for Apparel course at the Wilson College of Textiles included developing a digital collection from concept to creation using various software.

The "I'm sorry, Sari" Collection incorporates rich Indian heritage in colorful, fashionable eventwear, saying "goodbye" to the difficulties of wearing a sari, and "hello" to pre-draped, comfortable lehengas and sets.

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Gerber AccuMark, and CLO3D

Project A

The first part of the collection was concept creation. Inspired by her Indian heritage, her favorite colors, and a turquoise sari she grew up seeing her mother in, Aayushi conceptualized an eye-catching color palette, mood board, and lookbook to initiate ideation of her collection.

Target Market

"Outgoing, social, and confident women who are comfortable wearing loud colors and eye-catching pieces. They like the traditional look, but want the ease of a pre-draped sari or elevated lehenga set. They wear this clothing to events and weddings, showing that they value friends and family. They look to buy quality products that will last them longer than one or two wears, allowing them to spend a larger amount on one piece. Because they live in the USA, they are also willing to spend a little bit more on quality traditional wear."

Project B

Using the aesthetic created in Project A, technical designs of two looks in various colorways were created. One look was a palazzo set, and the other a lehenga set with a pre-draped pallu.

The patterns used on both looks are textile designs Aayushi created in FTM 271 Computer-Aided Textile Design (Spring 2025).

Adobe Illustrator was used to create the technical flats.

Project C

Using her design of the Palazzo Set with Easy-Wear Dupatta and a Missy Sloper base, Aayushi slashed and spread on Gerber AccuMark to create digital patterns for her design.

Project D

After ideating and creating technical flats on Adobe Illustrator and patterns on Gerber AccuMark, CLO3D was used to create 3D renderings of the Palazzo Set with Easy-Wear Dupatta in colorways Rainforest Bliss and Clay and Earth
